Assessing the quality of lighting and temperature in the classrooms and laboratories. Propose solutions for reducing energy use and heat loss and to improve the quality of school environments Short description: The classes were introduced to the methodology of the energy audit, consisting in the collection of data concerning the uses of electricity and heat and the details in the envelope of school buildings (walls, doors and windows). Students collected energetic data for several months. It was also carried out experimental measurement of temperature and lighting of classrooms, laboratories and offices, was also distributed a questionnaire to the classes to collect opinions on the levels of lighting and temperature of individual rooms. The project involved three institutions of higher education: Liceo Scientifico Belfiore Mantova, Istituto Tecnico Industriale Fermi Mantova, Istituto Professionale Industria e Artigianato Da Vinci Mantova for a total of 6 classes. The project, supported technically by a private company, lasted several months and ended with data processing, presentation of the final report in three schools and a publication by the Province of Mantova. Reflection: The energy audit is a particularly effective tool to engage students on issues of energy use, energy conservation and energy efficiency, and the classification efficiency of buildings for the purpose of certification. Finally, the students have developed a greater sense of belonging to the institute. It is a pity that the Province has not implemented the repairs and improvements suggested by students. |
