Sightseeing Tour

Receive a first impression from the Hanseatic City of Stralsund. A guide will show you the beautiful old town and the harbour accompany with exciting stories about the city and her inhabitants. Here you will see a lot during the 90 minutes for example churches with specific architecture from the redbrick Gothic and old trading houses from the Swedish time. You will understand why Stralsund is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites and why it is so important to save this wonderful old town. Following you have the chance to climb up the tower from the church “St. Marienkirche”. More than 100 steps are hard work, but on the top you will be rewarded with a stunning view of the town over the sea to the island “Rügen”.

Meeresmuseum - Museum of Sea Life

In the middle of the old city is a former abbey called “Dominikanerkloster St. Katharinen” waiting for you inside you can find anemone fish, big tortoises, reef sharks, seahorses and even more. Moreover you can admire a fifteen meter long skeleton from a whale and further primed sea animals. Tortoises seem to float through a 350 000 liter aquarium. Don´t be scared when a curious reef shark is watching you behind the glass pane, it is only an act of greeting. A new attraction in the tropical aquarium is a hammerhead shark couple. You can also meet Nemo and his friends in the sea museum. In addition to surgeonfish, “Kaiserfischen” and prawns are also poisonous lionfish to find. Old boots are waiting for you just as model ships in showcases, which will explain to you from the fishery. Furthermore you can stay under a huge finback  skeleton, which is 15 m long and 1000 kg weighty. Ozeaneum - Aquarium

Look into a 2,6 millions liter aquarium and find more than hundred fish. Or choose the alternative for listening to whales and their amazing sounds. You can find both in the “Ozeaneum”, where you get also impressive information about the underwater world from the Baltic Sea up to the North Sea, till the Arctic Ocean. The “Ozeaneum” is directly at the harbour in Stralsund, where you can´t miss it, because of this modern and beautiful architecture. A few steps from the sailing boat “Gorch Fock” ends your harbour tour with a big salt water pool filled with great shoals. For sure you have seen the surge from the Baltic Sea or the North Sea at the top view. Now its time to see it under the water surface, which is possible in the surge pool. Whales are the biggest animals all over the world this fact is easier to believe when you stay under a model in the exhibitions hall. This hall gives space for a 26 m long blue whale, a 16 m long female humpback whale with a 5 m long baby next to her, a 10 m long killer whale and a pot whale which is fighting with a “Riesenkalamar”. Nautineum - Museum of Fishery

Find out how it is to be a researcher underwater. You can explore a laboratory undersea and feel like a real deep-sea diver. Discover the area of fishermen with old equipment and fishing boats. You will visit a small island called “Dänholm”, where you drive over the high bridge to island “Rügen”. Here you can find the exhibition about Baltic Sea sights and different kinds of Fishing boats.
An amazing highlight will be the underwater laboratory, which is 14 long and 86 tons weighty it is a great place for young scientists. Moreover you can find a very old sailing boat in the boat hall, which was used for over 150 years. After this it is time to learn more about fisher´s life. An old fisherman´s shed gives you a fantastic insight how hard it was to be a fisher.

Zoo

Are you interested in wild animals like lions, kangaroos and monkeys? Then the zoo must be the right attraction for you, because it presents you 133 different kinds of animals, 800 exotic and local animals. Come into action and feed some animals in a special enclosure.
Is it true that there are no white donkeys all over the world?, Its not, because you can meet them in the zoo in Stralsund. However you can also see other animals like monkeys, lions and bears. Bedsides you can watch wolves in a huge outdoor enclosure. You can find animals coming from all over the world for example monkeys in the tropical house with colourful saurians or local animals in an enclosure, where you can feed them. This trip to the zoo will be an unforgettable experience!

Kletterpark Altefähr - climbing park in "Altefähr"

This climbing park gives you the possibility to climb from tree to tree with a reliable protection. Highlights are the 100 m long rope slide and the beautiful view of the town Stralsund. Start a real climb adventure through the nature. You can cross bridges and mount trees, which are nearly 12 m high. Take your break in around 100 m over a rope slide and enjoy the wonderful view of the town Stralsund during the whole adventure trip.

Stralsund is a famous representative of the "Brick Gothik". The City Hall (left) and the St. Maria Church are built in this style of architecture.

Ruegen Brigdes Stralsund skyline

You have to pass Stralsund, if you want to visit Ruegen, Germanys largest island. You can choose between two bridges (left): a new one (frontage) and a historical one (background). From Ruegen you have a nice view at the skyline of Stralsund (right).
