Schools are some of the most important public energy consumers, because of their size, their number and their construction and technical equipment. Energy efficiency in schools can contribute to climate protection and relief of community budgets. Primarily it offers the background, against which young people can learn skills for a sustainable lifestyle and active participation in their society. For that reason, the International school congress "Energy efficiency in schools" will take place on the 7th - 8th October 2010 in Stralsund. It is also the final event in the European project, Energy – Education – Governance – Schools (EGS). The event is aimed at schoolchildren, teachers, decision makers and multipliers in Germany and Europe. It is an opportunity to exchange experiences on good approaches to energy efficiency and renewable energies in schools. This includes pedagogical and technical aspects as well as management. Representatives of such projects are heartily invited to present a poster or to hold a workshop. Such contribution should be announced by 31st July 2010.
